Historically, acute malnutrition was always managed at the hospital level, which made access to treatment difficult and overloaded facilities. In 1996, Ready-to-Use Supplementary/Therapeutic Foods emerged (RUSF/RUTF). This marks a milestone in treatment, allowing it to be community/home-based, as long as there are no complications.

There are different types and brands of RUTF/RUSF, although they usually have a common base. See some examples below:

By incorporating several new ingredients, the cost of NyH0 formula (16,3 euros) is slightly higher than the previous Gasy formula (12,4 euros). However, Both are still cheaper than industrial RUTFs (45-46 euros already in 2025)Even if an organization does not have moringa plantations and must purchase this ingredient, the price is still lower.

Be careful because in some medical distributors and importers, the price for these same RUTFs for a standard 8-week treatment could rise to 76-78 euros...
